Loren Layne Waresback

In the early morning hours of January 13, 2019, Layne Waresback, 58, passed away following a courageous battle with cancer. Layne was a lifelong resident of Bloomfield, NM. He was born on September 4, 1960 in Carrizozo, NM to Jim and Jo Wasreback.

Layne attended and graduated from Bloomfield H.S. in 1979, where he lettered in 4 sports. He attended New Mexico State University and graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering, which served him in a career in the construction industry throughout the 4 Corners region. Layne was an avid outdoors man and enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, and walking and hiking in the mountains. He was passionate about his career and involved with his children’s sporting events.

Layne is preceded in death by his father, Jim Waresback and mother, Jo Stroup both of Bloomfield; maternal grandparents, Ernest and Grace Yandell; paternal grandparents, Lee Waresback (Oregon) and Georgia Hayden (Kansas City, MO).

Layne is survived by his son, Logan; daughters, Mattie and Katie; sister Jo Beth (Don) Fritz and brother, Damon (Teresa) Waresback.

Service for Layne will be at Bloomfield First Baptist Church on Saturday, January 19 at 2:00 p.m., officiated by Pastor Joel Gunn.
